Work duties
The work duties associated with the position mainly consist of research, teaching, course development, supervision and examination in the first and second cycles of study in political science with a specialization in European studies. Teaching takes place in both Swedish and English, among other things within the master’s programme European Affairs. The position also includes administration linked to the work duties mentioned above. We welcome applicants whose research specialisation would contribute to one of the department’s research environments.

A person is qualified for employment as a senior lecturer if they hold a doctoral degree in political science or another relevant subject, have demonstrated teaching expertise and undergone at least five weeks’ training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way.

The applicant shall be an active researcher with very good knowledge of political science research into European affairs. A documented teaching portfolio and proven teaching qualifications are a requirement. The successful applicant is to be able to teach in both Swedish and English, in the long term. Non Swedish-speaking applicants are therefore expected to acquire a knowledge of Swedish at the level required to fulfil ordinary work duties within education and administration within the first two years of employment. There are opportunities for Swedish language training within Lund University.

Grounds for assessment
The grounds for assessment are the general degree of research, teaching, administrative and other expertise of significance to the subject content and work duties of the advertised position, and the applicant’s general abilities that are significant satisfactorily to carry out the work duties associated with the position. Equal emphasis is placed on research and teaching expertise. The applicant’s ability to independently plan, develop and implement research and education of high quality within the subject area is considered very important. The department has a collegial approach to work and sees the teaching staff group as a work team that is collectively responsible for the quality of education and for educational development. A good ability to cooperate and a willingness to work together in a group is highly valued.

The application is to be submitted electronically to the Lund University e-recruitment portal.
