Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance. The Department of Archaeology is seeking to appoint a part-time, two-year Teaching Associateship in Assyriology, from 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, in order to strengthen and support undergraduate and graduate teaching in Assyriology. The Temporary Teaching Associate will be based in the Department of Archaeology, Cambridge. The primary role of the Teaching Associate will be to support the curriculum in Akkadian language, specifically courses at the introductory and intermediate level. The Teaching Associate will also teach a portion of a Mesopotamian Culture module each year. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:
The successful candidate should have broad knowledge and familiarity with Assyriology, demonstrated ability to teach, experience in research projects in the field, and an excellent knowledge of Akkadian. Training in other cuneiform languages, especially Sumerian, is preferred but not required. Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
