The Opportunity:


The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts at Ryerson University ( is pleased to invite applications for two (2) one-year Limited Term Faculty (LTF) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointments shall be effective August 1, 2019 to July 31 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.


Limited Term Faculty appointments at Ryerson University may not exceed a combined total of four years.  Applicants with prior Ryerson LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply.






The duties of these positions shall consist only of teaching and service. The candidate will contribute to our undergraduate (BA) program through teaching and mentoring of students to facilitate junior scholars and diversify the field. The candidate will engage in maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities.


The successful candidates will have demonstrated experience as effective and equity-oriented teachers of large undergraduate courses, supervisors of Academic Assistants; and must provide evidence of currency in the teaching areas of Micro, Macro and Engineering Economics. Applicants must clearly identify these experiences and qualifications in their application.

These are planned assignments but modifications may be required due to enrolment or other related changes. Course descriptions are found in Ryerson’s Undergraduate course calendar.






Candidates must hold, or be close to completing, an earned Ph.D. in Economics or a related field by the appointment date and have teaching experience specifically in Economics. ABD candidates with an expected completion date by December 2019 may also be considered.


Candidates must have demonstrated experience as an effective teacher of large undergraduate classes, should have experience supervising graduate assistants, and should demonstrate currency in the subject areas they will be expected to teach in.


Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population.
